Crashworthiness Performance of Al6061 Tubes with Stiffened Quatrefoil Sections under Axial and Oblique Impact Conditions

This study presents the crashworthiness performance of Al6061 tubes with stiffened quatrefoil sections under axial and oblique impact conditions. Influences different types stiffeners through depth in design a sectional crash absorber structure are investigated, numerically. Four stiffener patterns considered angles 0º, 10º, 20º, 30º measured from horizontal axis. Force-displacement characteristics, deformation patterns, indexes tested given to decide optimal configuration. The numerical tube models placed between two rigid plates an speed 1m/s is study. series aluminum alloy used as material multi-linear model assuming strain-rate independent properties. It found that very sensitive angle Q-S-4 type can be proposed for better design.
